The journey to become a freelancer started in January of 2018.
A tenacious 24-year-old woman was applying for job after job in her field of public relations since November. She wasn’t hearing back from ANYONE.
Panic set in.
February of 2018 rolled around.
After ZERO emails back (much less interview requests after sending in her resume and cover letter), she stopped applying for these corporate and agency jobs.
Then, she started researching “how to become a freelancer.”
She didn’t know ANYONE that freelanced or ANYTHING about freelancing. All she knew deep down is the corporate life wasn’t for her.
Fears? Yeah, she had plenty.
What if she graduated with no 9-5 or freelance job?
How would she create a steady income?
How would she pay her student loans back?
What would she even offer as a freelancer?
But what was the alternative?
She never enjoyed the structure and hierarchy of the corporate world and always knew she did things a little differently than most.
What’s a woman to do?
Fast forward to April of 2018.
She acknowledged the fears, spoke with her long-term partner about making it work, and started applying for remote writing jobs and freelance work.
Then May of 2018 rolled around.
BOOM… she landed her first contract gig as a freelancer AND a remote writing job!
And guess what?
That tenacious 24-year-old is me (two years older and unimaginably wiser).
It could also be you too.
It’s possible for you to go freelance simply because you CHOOSE to.
Knowing exactly what to do once you make that choice? That’s why I’m here.
I didn’t have anyone at the start of my freelance journey that was there to support me, answer Q’s, or offer me advice.
I especially didn’t have anyone telling me I could create a freelance career AROUND my lifestyle, the life I wanted to live.
Society tells us things are to be done a certain way… but what if we want to do things our own way?
That’s the power of freelancing.
If you’re looking for the tools to get started, they’re available for you.
If you’re looking for support and guidance as you navigate the uncharted waters of freelancing, there’s a community for you to join.
I created a life of freedom for myself (in a way that feels good to ME) and I want you to create your own life of freedom, whatever that looks like for you.
Because you can.
Because you’re capable.
Because it’s possible.
And know I’m here for you at every step of your journey.
